Because the scope of this project has grown beyond the capacity of a single
volunteer and legal issues prevent us from using a classic open-source development model,
the modem drivers are now available in two editions:
a free version (limited to 14.4Kbps data), available at no cost. Please use it to test if your hardware is compatible.
a full version (with 56K and FAX), available for a modest price.
Proceeds will be used to further improve the drivers. Getting the full version is the best way to encourage us and ensure that this project continues.
If you are wondering why a Linux driver isn't already included in the price you paid for your
modem, or disagree with the practice of selling Linux software, please read this explanation.

To use these generic packages, kernel-source and the gcc C compiler must be properly installed on your system to dynamically build the driver modules upon installation.

If you are not sure which format to choose, please see the installation instructions.
Note to Fedora Core 2 to 6 and Fedora 7 users: The default stack size in original Fedora Core 2 to 6 and Fedora 7 kernels is only 4K. Because some drivers require more stack space to operate properly, we recommend using a kernel with a larger stack size if you experience problems or crashes. You can either rebuild your own custom kernel, or get one of our replacement "stk16" kernels provided for your convenience through the distribution-specific Fedora Core 2 to 6 and Fedora 7 links above.
Note to Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04), Hardy (8.04) and SUSE (11.0, 11.1) users with HDA modems: Installing the alsa-driver-linuxant package is necessary before installing this driver.
