Hi Joseph, was your kernel built with wireless extensions?

Quoting the FAQ:

: I have a custom kernel and my WLAN interface doesn't work.
:
: Make sure that your kernel is compiled with the support for 'wireless
: extensions'. You must enable 'Wireless LAN' under 'Network device
: support'. The options in the configuration file are 'CONFIG_NET_RADIO=y'
: and 'CONFIG_NET_WIRELESS=y'.
