Since there is not a separate dev list and user list, I'm posting the
results here in the hope that someone in the future with the same card
might be able to find promise in that I was able to get it to work
properly.

Part Number: 8471-WD
Rev: A

Functional tests:
802.11B w/o WEP: Yes
802.11B w/ 64 bit WEP: Yes
802.11B w/ 128 bit WEP: Yes
802.11G w/o WEP: Yes
802.11G w/ 128 bit WEP: Yes
These tests were performed with D-Link DWL-900+ (11B) and D-Link
DWL-2000 (11G).

Output of various utilities follows.

lspcidrake (first field is the default driver suggested, the rest is the
normal output of lspci):

Next is output from iwconfig:
eth1 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"getfuzzy" Nickname:"unknown"
          Mode:Managed Access Point: 00:80:C8:17:B3:1B Bit Rate=54Mb/s

          Encryption key:9999-9999-9999-9999-9999-9999-99

Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

This is the 'iwlist eth1 scan' output. Note how it only lists up to 36
Mb. When connected though, the iwconfig above shows 54 Mb. Is that
normal?

Next is edited dmesg output. If requested, I can provide the entire
dmesg output including all the junk about ACPI and APIC.

Finally, the output of 'iwpriv eth1':
eth1 Available private ioctl :
          force_reset (8BE0) : set 0 & get 0
          card_reset (8BE1) : set 0 & get 0

Hopefully this information will prove useful for someone in the future.
Most cards will look the same as this one.

Ah, I should have shown what was in /var/lib/driverloader or whatever
directory the driver files exist in. My bad. I'll get that after the
holidays so you can document on the website which drivers work for this
card.

I do not have anything that is WPA enabled to test that mode of
encryption with.
