Hi,

when you re-connect the device, do you see it in the output of the
'lsusb' command in a root shell? Do you see messages in your 'dmesg'
which indicate that DriverLoader loaded the Windows XP driver to drive it?

If you see the wireless device in the output of the 'lsusb' command,
then it's possible that this is a hotplug/udev issue which prevent the
wireless settings to be applied. You could try to run the 'ifup wlan0'
command in this case to see if there is a difference.

If you do not see the wireless device in the output of the 'lsusb'
command in a root shell, then this is likely a kernel problem. You
should try with different versions of the kernel to see if there is a
difference.
