[hcflinux] framing error - EC_ERROR: Frame xx is out of order.

YES!!!

I recently mentioned that I am getting random modem hangups..and today I
went looking for a reason..

I found a heap of those messages appears just before each hangup.. but there
are occasional references to it all through the logs.

Another weird one I found was this:

kernel:0905431.618: V8bisToneDetect: NOT IMPLIMENTED - START CW (I think
this is a non compatable issue with my init script)

and I get the odd occasion of(eg): CRC Error:352<4>

I get disconnected usually twice upon dialup now, then it will settle down
and stay connected for a while, Maybe..

I guess I'm going to have to go and buy another serial external if I can't
fix this.. I can't afford 3 dollars a day in connection calls.

The OS is a completely standard Mandrake 8.2 kernel 2.4.18-6 install is only
two weeks old, plenty of ram and all other necessities.. and the system has
no other issues at all.. everything is working flawlessly.

Modem is a GVC HCF winmodem.. was working perfectly in windows.. and except
for continiously disconnecting at random it works perfectly in linux.. (I do
have instances where it stayed connected on linux for over 12 hours.. but
that is very unusual.)

Please, does anyone have any idea??? is the starter of this mailing list
still around? I see only questions here, no discussion or help.. just
wondering..

regards

Frank

Is anyone else having problems with random hangups? is anyone else using
Mandrake 8.2?
is it worth upgrading the kernel to a cooker kernel and recompiling?
