IT WORKS!!!!!!!!  I am sending you this email message via my built in 
modem on my vaio pcg-xg28.   Many many thanks for the great job you are 
doing getting all of these modems to work under linux.  No modem sounds, 
but maybe that's a good thing.  I can certainly live with that.

For the record, even though your website says that the HSF modem driver 
should work for my modem (the output from listmodem.sh, plus the info 
from your web page indicates HSF) in fact it was the HCF driver that worked.

For the record, your latest hcf modem driver works for me on this modem:
