Hi,

Thanks for looking into the problem, Marc

Problem:
The dialtone is heard; The modem dials ;the dialtone continues
The sound of the modem dialling is superimposed on the sound of the dialtone.
The dialtone stops after a while and the modem hangs up. The sort of thing
that normally
happens only if you pick up the receiver and don't dial at all.

Variations:
If I use ATDP instead of ATDT the modem dials,
the dialtone does go away and their is the sound
of the modem trying to connect to a remote machine.
However after a while the modem hangs up with usually
a NO CARRIER response

With ATDT the dialtone and modem dialling sound are
normal throughout.
With ATDP the dialing sound is somewhat unusual. But
dialtone is normal.

Drivers used: 0.98, 0.97, 0.94. Same response in all.

Dianostics:
  1. /var/log/messages included below
  2. Windows log included below
  3. hcfpciconfig -dumpdiag posted in Vol #140, msg #1.

Thanks once again,
dm
