[hcflinux] Gentoo Linux 2.4.20

Since the first time I accidently sent this to the wrong list I hope it works 
this time...

I have a HCF P85 DATA/FAX/REMOTEAM/SPEAKERPHONE

SubVendor ID 13E0

Gentoo ( Latest ) and The linux kernel version 2.4.20
I have downloaded hcfpcimodem-0.99mbsibeta02123100 and tried installing it 
but after the make install & hcfpciconfig everything seems to go fine but 
when I go to do ls /dev/modem or ls /dev/ttySH0 i get a directory or file not 
found now that tells me that the installation didn't go right even though 
I've seen no error's in it. I have checked /var/log/messages and I have tried 
demsg but I've seen nothing that could make my instllation not work, I have 
been able to get this to work perfectly on RedHat linux but I would like to 
get it to work on Gentoo Linux

Any help would be very much appreciatedd
