First - I really appreciate the responses - I just don't want to give up!  I 
have minicom set at ttySHCF0 - I'm not understanding how to dial a number in 
minicom - if you could give the exact sequence to dial - I would appreciate 
it.    Also I dont know if this matters but my kernel is 2.4 18-27.8.0   
[rh8]   and the driver is 2.4 .18-27.8.0_1    notice the one at the end of 
the driver - would this make any difference?  - again thanks [now I'm REALLY 
getting hot on the keyboard]
