[hcflinux] Problems dialing out...

Hi,

this can be related to the country parameters. Since your modem works under
Windows, you can try importing the values of the FLAGS and RELAYS from the
modem's INF file under Windows to the modem's country INF file under Linux
(/etc/hcfpci/current.cty). Note that this file gets overwritten if you
reconfigure the modem with hcfpciconfig.

The RELAYS under Windows are 16 bits, but they are 32 bits under Linux so
you must add ,00,00 to each line after importing the Windows values.

You are the second person from Australia to report this problem. The other
user didn't confirm yet if importing the RELAYS ans FLAGS fixed his problem.

Please let us know about your results.

Jean-Simon

Subject: [hcflinux] Problems dialing out...

I have a HP Pavilion 6501, which comes with a Conexant Riptide Modem. The
modem runs well under Windows, but Under Mandrake 9.0 it try dial (and it
does over the computer speakers), but the dial tone remains. I have checked
the modem output using another phone-line, only to notice that the modem
outputs a low volume signal to the phone line, but over the computer
speakers the volume is normal (and not distorted at all).

Even if I dial the isp for the computer, the modem will not connect, I
assume again that the output volume is too low, for the ISP to receive. I
have read previous mail on the mail list and other people have had simular
problems. But I have not found anyone yet who has found a solution.

I have purchased the computer in Australia, and it is still in Australia.
The country code has been set appropiately, and in windows setting the USA
country code I still can connnect to my ISP... Setting the Linuxant Driver
to USA still give the same continued dial tone...

The Sound Driver works well, but I would love to use linux to surf the
net... I have attached the hcfdiag.txt file

Regards Cliff

Hope to hear from someone soon.
