[hcflinux] Problems with RH.8.0 and Compaq Presario

Hi,

I've seen similar problems from people trying to use the modem in Australia.
They had to modify the FLAGS and RELAYS settings in the modem's country file
(/etc/hcfpci/current.cty). Try to overwrite these settings.

---

HKR,Country\09,RELAYS,1,\
2F,0C,00,00,\

08,04,00,00,\

08,04,00,00,\
08,04,00,00

HKR,Country\09,FLAGS,1,00,00,08,00

---

Please let us know if it works. You might have to also overwrite the FLAGS
in the "current.inf", but please try first without changing this file. Make
sure you run "hcfpcistop" to unload the modules before testing.

Thank you,

Hi Jean-Simon,

Thanks for your response, sorry I've taken so long to respond. I decieded to
upgrade to RedHat 9.0 (kernel version: 2.4.20-8) and re-installed the HCF
drivers and disable the PCMCIA (Yenta) drivers. These changes gave me some
progress - I can now initialize the modem and dial out and can hear it
connecting, but it just can't seem to fully negiotate the connection. I've
also tried the apci/apm kernel flags, but still not much success. I haven't
tried the kernel recompile yet. As before, the output from hcipciconfig -d
can be found at http://rl.iwarp.com/hcfdiag-txt.htm .

And here's the entries in /var/log/messages:

going, so any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
Rob.
