Hi,

we can see this error in the output of "dmesg":

---
0647651.859: HCF: !!!DM ERROR: tone dialing, TDBE timeout???
---

Another user had this problem once and he found out that his phone line
extension was defective.

Does your modem work properly under Windows? If it does, we might have to
import the RELAYS/FLAGS settings from your windows driver.

Subject: [hcflinux] can't dial out on modem

Hi there,
I've tried installing both the rpm version of the HCF driver for my system
(kernel 2.4.20-8 on i686) and the 'make install/hcfpciconfig' manual methods
to
get my modem to work. The driver installs fine but when I try to dial out
with
minicom, it connects then starts to display lots of weird characters with
lots
of '{' then returns 'NO CARRIER'
Anyone got any ideas. Please see attached hcfdiag.txt file
Cheers
Bruce Lamond
