Hi,

I'm new to this mailing list. I red messages from archive and seems my
problems are already discussed; but someone with same vaio claims
everything works fine that is not my case :(

Well, I describe my experience and problems.

I use debian unstable with self compiled 2.4.18 kernel.
gcc version is: 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease) with which I
compiled kernel and hsf modules.
ACPI, USB and Audio support are enabled, no patch used.

lspci -nv says:

00:07.6 Class 0780: 1106:3068 (rev 30)
	Subsystem: 104d:80f6
	Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 5
	I/O ports at 1400 [size=256]
Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 2

hsf driver is hsflinmodem-5.03.03.L3mbsibeta02062500

hsf install procedure works fine, but modprobing hsfserial pc
hangs and a power cicle is needed.
After some test I resolved this problem preloading audio modules:

Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: Via 686a audio driver 1.9.1
Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: PCI: Assigned IRQ 5 for device 00:07.5
Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:07.6
Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: IRQ routing conflict for 00:0a.1, have irq 10, want irq 5
Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: IRQ routing conflict for 00:10.0, have irq 10, want irq 5
Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: ac97_codec: AC97 Audio codec, id: 0x4144:0x5348 (Analog Devices AD1881A)
Aug 3 08:57:23 flyby kernel: via82cxxx: board #1 at 0x1000, IRQ 5
Aug 3 09:23:18 flyby kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:07.6
Aug 3 09:23:18 flyby kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:07.5
Aug 3 09:23:18 flyby kernel: IRQ routing conflict for 00:0a.1, have irq 10, want irq 5
Aug 3 09:23:18 flyby kernel: IRQ routing conflict for 00:10.0, have irq 10, want irq 5
Aug 3 09:23:18 flyby kernel: PCI: Setting latency timer of device 00:07.6 to 64
Aug 3 09:23:18 flyby kernel: HSF: MC97 VendorId1=0x4358 VendorId2=0x5421

Now pc doesn't hangs and I'm able to connect to my ISP. Yes, I use ATX3
to solve "NO DIALTONE" problem.
But now the big problem is machine reboot after random connection time.
The machine hangs with beeps and flashing power led, screen goes blank.
Again power cicle is needed.
Modules loaded are:

Module Size Used by Tainted: PF
hsfvia 96952 2 (autoclean)
hsfserial 16936 0 (unused)
hsfengine 892844 0 [hsfserial]
hsfosspec 20304 0 [hsfvia hsfengine]
via82cxxx_audio 18104 1 (autoclean)
soundcore 3556 2 (autoclean) [via82cxxx_audio]
ac97_codec 9672 0 (autoclean) [via82cxxx_audio]

hsfbasic2, hsfich and hsfyukon are not auto loaded by modprobe.
Manualy post loading these modules doesn't helps (I'll try to pre load
they next time).

Some days ago hsflinmodem-5.03.03.L3mbsibeta02072100 was out. I got it
and installed with no problems.
But with these drivers I'm not able to connect to my ISP.
After number dial, during modem negotiation, my modem emits a fix tone,
the peer modem hang ups and I hear busy tone on telephone line.

I tried to set "Plug and Play OS" from BIOS both to YES and NO but
problems are still here.

Someone can help?
Thanks.
