Hello Linuxfans,

First I want to wish you all a good and happy new year!

I have a few questions about a PCI-Modem which I´d like to buy,
but before that, I would like to know that it run´s with Linux :-)

I´ve taken a lot of time to find anything about that modem
in the Internet, but found nothing :-(

The Modem is called "Arowana AR20S" and is available (here in Germany)
by Pollin Electronic GmbH (http://www.pollin.de).

Sorry that there is only a german description of it, and no direct
weblink, but you can click in the left frame on the following words,
after that you will see in the right frame a picture and a short
description:

COMPUTER+ZUBEHÖR -> Netzwerktechnik -> Modem/Netzwerkkarten

"With this 56K/V.92-Modem for the PCI-Slot you can comfortably
surf, send faxes and make telefoncalls (*).
Easy installation with Plug & Play. Send out with Software and
cables..."

If you click on "Details" you get a larger pic and a bit more infos:

- Rockwell-Chipset
- G3-Fax-Support
- Drivers for all Windows-versions (that´s useless for me :)

(*) I called the people at Pollin and they said, that the card
has 2 phone jacks, one goes to the telco, the other can go to
a telefon, which is switched through the modem...

I asked the woman at Pollin to tell me the inscription on the
chip - I hope she gave me the right Informations :-)

Is this known by anyone of you? IHMO it should be a HSF-compatible
Modem, and therefore run with Linux, but I´m not sure?

Has somebody exactly this modem in use? Is it worth to buy?
Any (specific) problems whith it? How stable does it run?
I´d like to put it in my server, which runs 24h/7 days :-)

And what about the Fax- and Voice (answering machine) functionality?
Does that work? If not, is it planned for the future?

Many thanks to you in advance,
Peter
