[hsflinux] MODEM NOT WORKING ON Presario 919EA

I installed the rpm for my Winmodem from the Conexant web site
There was an initial error:
pcilib: Cannot open /proc/bus/pci
pcilib: Bus 00 seen twice (firmware bug). Ignored.
The rpm driver for the modem was installed OK
 
After this
When I open minicom - it says configuration file cannot be found - 
using defaults
 
 In the Network config tool - Cannot activate network device ppp0

when I do cat /dev/modem - ir says device not found
 
The contents of the wvdial.conf file:

> Modem = /dev/modem
> Baud = 57600

> Dial Command = ATDT
> Init1 = ATZ
> FlowControl = Hardware (CRTSCTS)

What can I do now? Please help!
