No, I don't think so: I used a pretty recent suse-kernel, when I managed to 
install it last time. I was using SuSE-8.0 but a much newer kernel than the 
one shipped with SuSE-8.1. It is right that SuSE has highly patched kernels 
but at least with hsf they should work.
