Hello

I used to have the same problem, and this was quite a
help to me. Hope it works for you too.

Turn Initialization String 0 value to AT&F and get a
shell running ping -i 30 www.google.com to ensure you
wont disconect. This changes are also helpfull:
      
        Flow Control 
        -- CRTSCTS 
        Line Termination 
        -- CR 
        Initialization String 0 
        -- AT&F 
        No Dial Tone Detection 
        -- ATX3 
        Dial String 
        -- ATDT
