Hi,

the easiest way to test your modem would be to use a terminal program like
minicom. This would allow you to verify the basic functionnality without
involving a complex software like the ppp dialer.

In minicom's configuration, you have to set the device to "/dev/modem" or
"/dev/ttySHCF0".

If the modem works properly, you will be able to send some "AT" commands to
it like these:

AT
ATI0
ATI1
...
ATI9
ATZ

Then, I suggest you send the command "AT &F W1 +ER=1; +DR=1" to initialize
the modem and try to connect to your ISP's phone number to see if it works
properly. The command to dial is "ATDT phone_number" (eg. ATDT 555-1234).

If you can't access the modem properly, please run "hsfconfig --dumpdiag"
and send us the file that it generates.

Hi,
The internet connection wizard says that it doesn't support the modem
still. The install of the drivers went fine as far as I can see. I have both
/dev/modem and /dev/ttySHSFO.
 My modem is a 14f1:2f00, running on a Mandrake 9.1 with 2.4.21-0.13mdk
kernal. modprobe hsfserial didn't show anything of interest and nor did
dmesg.

I have I tried depmod --all, nothing that i could see happened.

Edward
