I know what you try te say, but try to think in the consumers too.
Perhaps an enterprise could make an efford to buy a driver after they've
bougth a computer, because it is a really low cost for them. But what
happen
with the rest of the world!!! The only thing a person with a normal salary
can think is that you have spend a lot of money buying a PC and now you
have
to spend more. Why? Because if don't, you could not be able to make
something works. An enterprise can spend a lot of money. The rest of the
 mortals, no.

Perhaps you are thinking that a few dollars is not much money for this,
but think how many moneny I have spend now. I don't want this chain of
 costs.

And finally, why to develop a free software helped with the experiences
of lot of people, and when the product starts to work someone want people
to
pay for it???? What about all those person who made their contribution to
get a better driver, and nowm if want the best driver you have to pay for
it. Linux and OpenSource spirit is not that. In driver "serial.c" it said
that the code is based in the one developed by Linus Torvalds. What about
use opensource to produce new software and sell it. I think this is not
correct and if you want to develop free software, do it, but do not sell it
 them...
