For desktops or servers, I agree, but you really can't get a real modem
built into a laptop anymore and an external can be a pain carrying
around with you (and on my other laptop, would require me to carry
around a USB to serial adapter too).  Sadly, neither of my laptops have
2 PCMCIA cards, so I would have to give up wireless for that route too.
