Hi,

please make sure you uninstall the free driver first with the command
"rpm -e hsfmodem". You might have to reboot your computer before doing so if
you are unable to unload the driver modules.

The driver modules should be unloaded automatically when you uninstall the
package. However, they could be in use and this can block the process. To
verify if they are currently loaded, use the command "lsmod" and look for a
few modules with "hsf" in their name.

To unload the modules, run "hsfstop". It will report an error if it fails.

If everything seems to fail, try these steps:

1) reboot

2) uninstall the current RPM package with this command:
rpm -e --noscripts --allmatches hsfmodem

3) install the new RPM
rpm -ip hsfmodem...rpm

If you get an error during or after the installation, try running
"hsfconfig --dumpdiag". This will generate a file (/tmp/hsfdiag.txt) which
contains diagnostic information that you can send to us.

Subject: [hsflinux] Problem installing full version

Hi,
I just bought and downloaded the full version of the hsf driver for Mandrake
9.0 today. I had prevoiusly installed the free version, and it works fine.
Now the Linuxant web pages tells me that in order to generate a licence
key I have to install the full version and then get a registration-ID from
"hsfconfig --info". Well like I did with the free version, I unzipped and
then did "rpm -i insert_very_long_and_difficult_filename_here.rpm". Nothing
happened and I got a new prompt immediately. So, have I missed anything?
I am very much a newbie in Linux, and this is the first time I try to
install
anything myself.
My Linux kernel is 2.4.19_16mdk if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
Hans Petter Birkeland
