Hi,

my HSF-Conexant Modem does not work properly together with my SUSE 8.2 Linux System.
I have installed the latest driver software (6.03.00lnxt03091800)for kernel 2.4.20. The
installation was successful but trying to connect to the internet via Kinternet does not work.
The initialisation is okay, but when the phone number of my ISP is dialed the message
NO DIALTONE appears and no connection can be established.
The files wvdial.conf and ifcfg-ipp0 are configured as follows:
ifcfg-ipp0:
BOOTPROTO='none'
DIALCOMMAND='ATX3DT'
DIALPREFIX='0'
INIT1='ATZX3'
INIT2='AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +MR=2;+DR=1;+ER=1
INIT8='ATM1'
INIT9='ATX3'
MODEM_DEVICE='/dev/modem'
PPPD_OPTIONS=''
PROVIDER='tonline2'
SPEED='57600'
STARTMODE='manual'
UNIQUE=''

wvdial.conf:
[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/modem
Baud = 57600
Init1 = ATZX3
Init2 = ATQ0 E0 V1 S0=0&C1&D2+MR=2;+DR=1;ER=1
Init3 =
Area Code =
Phone = 0
Username = 0004528832823200004227390001
Password =
Ask Password = 0
Dial Command = ATX3DT 0191011
Stupid Mode = 1
Compuserve = 0
Force Address =
Idle Seconds = 300
DialMessage1 =
DialMessage2 =
ISDN = 0
Auto DNS = 1

What can be done to make the modem work?

In advance, thanks to everybody who has some ideas.

Konrad
