Hi,

you have two options.

1) Upgrade your kernel to the latest RedHat 9 kernel (2.4.20-20.9) using
"up2date". Then, you can download and install the pre-built driver for that
specific kernel.

2) Install the two packages mentionned in the failed dependencies:
"kernel-source" and "gcc". These packages should be on your Linux
distribution medias.

I would recommend option 1 because it would allow you to upgrade to the
latest kernel and fix bugs or potential security holes at the same time.
Please see your RedHat documentation to learn how to upgrade a package using
"up2date".

Subject: [hsflinux] Winmodem for RedHat 9

I am new to Linux (started two days ago) and I am having trouble getting my
Winmodem to function. I am using RedHat 9, kernel 2.4.20-6, which does not
have a specific RPM. I have tried both the generic RPM and the generic
source with the same results. Here is the message that I receive.

[root at localhost Generic_RPM]# rpm -i
hsfmodem-6.03.00lnxt03091800free-1.i386.rpmwarning:
hsfmodem-6.03.00lnxt03091800free-1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID
5dfbf7dc
error: Failed dependencies:
        kernel-source is needed by hsfmodem-6.03.00lnxt03091800free-1
        gcc is needed by hsfmodem-6.03.00lnxt03091800free-1

Any suggestions?
