[hsflinux] Disconnect immediately after CONNECT

Hi all,

I have just upgraded to the full HSF modem driver, in a failed attempt to fix a connection problem I was having.

My problem is this. The modules all load up just fine, KPPP sees and can query the modem, when I dial I can hear the modem tones and arbitration occurring between the modems. The log window gets as far as displaying CONNECT 57600, then immediately the status bar of the log window displays 'Starting kpppd..' and a redial is attempted. This loop goes on ad infinitum until I hit 'Cancel'. I upgraded to the full driver on the basis that the remote modem was refusing to talk down to 14.4K, but the upgrade has not changed the symptoms, including the various log contents. I have a Fujitsu-Siemens C1020 (VIA chipset), running Debian Woody with a 2.4.20 kernel and ACPI 20021212 (my hardware has no APIC, by the way).

I've been through the FAQ and mailing list archive to no avail. There are obviously a few error outputs in the logs I've supplied (below), but they don't seem to add up to me, can you shed any light?

Regards,

Dr. Ian Silvester
