Hi,

are you sure this is the kernel source tree that was used to compile your
running kernel?

You should not run "make clean" or "make mrproper" after compiling the
kernel.

If you use a kernel provided by Mandrake, you just need to install the
"kernel-source" package that matches your running kernel.

Subject: [hsflinux] hsfconfig error on Mandrake 9.2 (autoconf.h)

I didn't see this exact problem posted before, so here goes.

No luck running hsfconfig on my Mandrake system.

I tried the bre-build rpm's (both for the distro, which failed to install,
and for the generic, which
installed). I also tried to run it from the tarball. Each time, after
'make install', I ran 'hsfconfig',
which resulted in the following
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------
$ hsfconfig
Conexant HSF softmodem driver, version 6.03.00lnxt03112100free

When reporting a problem for the first time, please send
us the file generated by "hsfconfig --dumpdiag".

No pre-built modules for: Mandrake-9.2 linux-2.4.22-21mdkcustom i686

Trying to automatically build the driver modules...
(this requires a C compiler and proper kernel sources to be installed)

Where is the linux source build directory that matches your running kernel?
[/lib/modules/2.4.22-21mdkcustom/build]

WARNING: missing file
/lib/modules/2.4.22-21mdkcustom/build/include/linux/autoconf.h
The cause of this problem is usually a missing or misconfigured
kernel source tree (and sometimes an incorrect directory or symbolic link).

First, ensure that the proper kernel source and compiler packages
from your distribution vendor and/or the community are installed.

The Linux kernel can then be reconfigured by running "make menuconfig"
under the kernel source directory (usually /usr/src/linux).

Verify that the proper options for your system are selected.

Then compile and install your new kernel (for more information about
this procedure, see the README file under the kernel source directory),
reboot the system using the new kernel, and re-run "hsfconfig".
