O.k., I'll restate my hardware and OS:

Presario 710EA, AMD Duron, Red Hat 7.2, kernel 2.4.18 source from from
kernel.org and configured under Gnome with 'make xconfig'. Ignored AMD
support, there is full ACPI and KACPI patching, so that all necessary
power control functions work perfectly.

Daniele,

This is precisely why I don't use Red Hat's kernel source, I don't trust
anything from Red Hat for my 700EA, have had really nasty experiences. I
see that Marc's put generic source and binary rpms up for download; try
one of these. Preferably try to compile the source:

hsflinmodem-5.03.03.L2mbsibeta02052600.tar.gz

And see what happens. You shouldn't get unresolved symbols if it
compiles against your standard kernel headers and libraries; at least,
that's what my simplistic mind tells me.

Best,

Tony
