[hsflinux] Kernel Panic [Gentoo 2.6.7] while installing Modules

Hi,

you are probably affected by an infinite recursion of the 'modprobe'
tool. This generally happens because of a conversion between the
'/etc/modules.conf' and the '/etc/modprobe.conf' file done by a script.
This conversion is not perfect and created an infinite loop in the
'modprobe' tool.

To fix this problem, please delete the file '/etc/modules.d/hsf' on your
system and run the 'update-modules' command in a root shell. Finally,
please delete the line starting with

---
install hsfserial
---

in your '/etc/modprobe.conf' file. It is important to note that if you
run the 'hsfconfig' script without any arguments, the file
'/etc/modules.d/hsf' will be generated and the problem will arise again.

Support for Gentoo's '/etc/runlevels' is not implemented in the HSF
driver package, however, it is not important to use the modem driver.
The next release of the modem driver will support Gentoo's '/etc/runlevels'.
