Hi,

driver version 7.68.00.09 will not work with HDA modems on Ubuntu 8.04
(problem with unknown symbols as you have mentioned). The solution is to
install alsa-driver-linuxant available at
http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver for this setup like you already did.
Pre-compiled packages of both alsa-driver-linuxant and HSF Ubuntu 8.04
are currently being worked on.

For the specific problem you have, please send to support at linuxant.com
the output of 'dumpdiag'. Type the following in a root shell:

---
hsfconfig --dumpdiag
---

Just send us the generated file located in /tmp ('hsfdiag.txt').
It'll help us solve the problem.
