Hi Bob, Dennis, Jonathan and list,

It seems as if the startmode is fixed in suse 9, it's hotplug by default. Anyway, starting the network service actually AFTER pcmcia solved the problem.

I did a mv /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S05network /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S09network

My ls /etc/init.d/rc5.d/S* is now
S01isdn S08pcmcia S10smbfs S14alsasound S14xntpd S15postfix S18nscd
S01random S08resmgr S10splash_early S14fbset S15cpufreqd S15splash S19crypto
S06syslog S09network S10vmware S14mysql S15cups S18cron S19splash_late
S07hotplug S10portmap S14acpid S14sshd S15kbd S18hwscan S19xdm

So network is now started after hotplug (S07) and pcmcia (S08).

mit freundlichen Grüßen
