This page contains patches which can be applied to the latest release of the HSF driver for the generic package in the TAR format. These patches can fix various bugs and add support for kernels which were not available at the moment of the release of the latest version of the driver. These patches are likely to be included in a future release of the driver.

If you have any problems with these patches, please contact support@linuxant.com.

PatchDescription
hsf-7.80.02.04-waitpid.patch

Necessary for newer RHEL/CentOS 5.x kernels.

hsf-7.80.02.04-debian_tree.patch

Fixes a build issue on Debian's 2.6.29 kernels.

How to apply these patches

The easiest way to install patches is to use the hsfconfig --patch command in a root shell with the latest version of the HSF modem driver installed. If the machine doesn't have an active Internet connection, you can use the hsfconfig --patch file.patch command instead, where file.patch is a patch file downloaded from this page. Patching is currently only supported with the TAR package format.

Advanced users can use the patch utility to patch the software instead of using the hsfconfig --patch command.

User comment:

Hi, I just wanted to drop a quick note to say thank you for providing the drivers for these modems. These have been an absolute saviour for me! I have used Mandrake 9 and more recently Red hat 9 at home so it is important to me to be able to use a dial-up connection. For example, even though I have all the packages for Ximian desktop 2 on CD it still needs to connect to the Ximian site to check for dependencies or something... So I can't install it without your drivers! So I have just downloaded the Red Hat 9 drivers for HSF modems and will be installing tonight. So a big THANK YOU for all responsible for the drivers and those who sponsor your work!!!! Regards
